KNYC was launched to help promote awareness about the need for New York consumers to renew their coverage once the federal COVID Public Health Emergency (PHE) ended. With the implementation of the federal reconciliation bill (H.R. 1), which includes significant cuts to Medicaid and Affordable Care Act-funded health insurance programs, the need for enrollment agencies to have dedicated outreach funding remains critical. This funding stream enables agencies to raise the profile of their free enrollment services to clients who may not be aware that local, in-person help is available. KNYC agencies also help New Yorkers understand how to maintain their coverage and how to navigate upcoming benefit and programmatic changes.

CSS issued subgrants to 11 agencies for calendar year 2026. These agencies:

  • Educate New Yorkers, especially immigrant communities, about eligibility changes.

  • Reach New Yorkers through language- and culturally-specific materials.

  • Help clients understand their coverage options and enroll.
