Help New Yorkers get, keep, and use health care

Make a difference in the lives of New Yorkers.  CSS's Community Health Advocates (CHA) offers volunteers a meaningful opportunity to assist individuals with health care issues.

Help your fellow New Yorkers:

  • Find and keep health insurance
  • Take advantage of health care reform
  • Find affordable health care and prescription options
  • Resolve disputes with insurers, and more!

We are seeking volunteers to commit at least eight hours per week to this challenging and important project on a long-term basis.

Share your lifetime of experience

Thousands of caring adults 55+ are serving their communities through CSS's Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP).  These volunteers share their lifetime of experience on behalf of hundreds of organizations throughout the five boroughs of New York City—including nonprofit agencies, schools, hospitals, nursing homes, soup kitchens, libraries, and homeless shelters.
