This report examines the barriers student loan borrowers encounter in navigating repayment and presents strategies to increase engagement and support in order to reduce delinquency and default. Drawing on research by CSS and Seven Letter, it highlights borrower attitudes and behaviors, identifying effective communication approaches to guide targeted interventions.
These insights inform actionable recommendations to proactively reach students before they borrow and re-engage existing borrowers—strengthening repayment outcomes and promoting financial well-being in both the short and long term.
