New Yorkers Support Public Banking for the Public Good

New data from our statewide Annual Survey of Housing and Economic Security shows that nearly 14% of New Yorkers are unbanked, meaning they don't have a checking or saving account. In our survey, we asked if respondents would support or oppose the creation of public banks in their communities, and the proposal received 54% support with only 12% opposed.
