Summary:
Gig work has become a significant feature of New York’s labor market, raising important questions about how digital platforms govern work. New data from our Annual Survey of Housing and Economic Security finds that more than 1 in 5 New Yorkers work gig jobs, and there is widespread concern among gig workers over how apps are directed and controlling their work.
