Mitigating the Impact of HR1 on New York's Health Insurance Landscape: Four Policy Proposals to Preserve Coverage

Summary: This analysis presents a concrete set of policy recommendations that New York State lawmakers can enact now in response to major cuts to the eligibility and financing of health insurance for lawfully present immigrant and citizen New Yorkers. By adopting these measures now, New York can preserve coverage for 480,000 New Yorkers who would otherwise lose access when federal cuts to health care programs take effect in the coming months.
