EDCAP Program Report: 2023-2024
Summary:
Over 2.4 million people carry $94.4 billion in federal student loan debt in New York. With the federal student debt system becoming increasingly complex, many borrowers struggle to find reliable help navigating repayment options and may fall victim to scams. The Education Debt Consumer Assistance Program (EDCAP) exists to empower these borrowers, providing them with essential guidance and support in managing, reducing or eliminating their student debt burdens.
This past year, EDCAP’s outreach and educational campaigns reached over 5.2 million New Yorkers, raising awareness on pressing student debt issues and offering critical resources for repayment and forgiveness. Read our 2023-24 annual report to learn more.
