About Spotlight on Police Reform

For generations, Black and brown Americans living in cities, towns and rural areas across the nation have rightfully been afraid of uniformed officers. Far too often, police officers engage in indefensible violence against the very people they are supposed to serve and protect.

With Governor Andrew Cuomo’s executive order, Police Departments across New York face a mandate to implement broad reforms consistent with community priorities. The Spotlight on Police Reform project has compiled comprehensive resources and expert testimony to empower communities seeking to re-envision policing.
