Statement on the passing of Miriam Reinharth
We are deeply saddened by the sudden passing of Miriam Reinharth, a former CSS staff member and long-time volunteer. We send our heartfelt condolences to her family.
Miriam joined CSS in 2013 and quickly became a beloved volunteer on the Community Health Advocates helpline helping New Yorkers access health care. Her exceptional volunteerism earned her the CSS Everyday Hero award. Subsequently, she transitioned to the role of Public Engagement Manager in the CSS Health Initiatives Department in 2016. As both a CSS volunteer and employee, Miriam assisted hundreds of clients with their health insurance and medical debt issues. She was a knowledgeable and tenacious colleague and fervent advocate.
Miriam excelled at everything she did. In addition to successfully securing positive outcomes for many New Yorkers, she also brought their stories to life for the media and in our publications. After her retirement in 2023, Miriam continued her support of CSS by volunteering with the Next Door Project.
She will be sorely missed by all of us who worked with her.
