The Community Service Society applauds Governor Cuomo’s efforts to improve employment outcomes for low-income youth in our state. Unfortunately, much of the new funding outlined in his “New York Youth Works Program” goes to restore gaps in services that have been cut in recent years – particularly to summer jobs and the Career Pathways program. Still, it is good to see the investment, which will provide incentives for employers to hire inner-city youth, as well as resources for community-based organizations to help prepare our young people to succeed in those jobs.
