Statement: CSS Applauds Governor Cuomo’s Directive on Coronavirus
The Community Service Society salutes Governor Cuomo for ensuring that there will be no insurance related cost-barriers to getting tested for the new coronavirus.
Under the governor’s directive, health insurers in New York must waive any co-pays for COVID-19 tests at doctors’ offices, urgent care and emergency rooms.
This not only makes practical sense, but is in the best interest of all New Yorkers. The coronavirus scare has created anxiety and fear in New York, and across the country, about potential exposure.
Action taken by the governor helps ensure that costs are not a barrier to diagnosing the virus care as we marshal the resources and expertise to deal with this health threat.
