VOLUNTEERISM
With partnerships at more than 600 New York City community-based
organizations, the award-winning Retired & Senior Volunteer
Program (RSVP) provides challenging volunteer assignments to 9,000
adults age 55 and over, to share their many lifetimes' worth of
experience, as tutors, docents, instructors, administrative assistants
and more.
Experience Corps is part of a national
initiative created by Civic Ventures that creates opportunities
for older Americans to take part in vital public and
community service. Today more than 1,000 Experience
Corps members are serving as tutors and mentors to children
in urban public schools in a dozen cities across the
country.
