Video: One Volunteer’s Sandy Recovery

On October 29, 2012, Hurricane Sandy hit New York City with devastating force. With support from The New York Times Sandy Relief fund, CSS reached out to help individuals and community groups in hard-hit areas. We also contacted the many CSS Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) members who were directly impacted by the storm. In all, CSS was able to assist dozens of individuals and community groups with funds for rebuilding, recovery, and disaster preparedness. On this first anniversary of Hurricane Sandy, we are pleased to share the story of RSVP volunteer and storm survivor Carolyn Murray. Watch the video to learn more about Carolyn’s dramatic story of recovery, and the joy she takes in volunteering.
