The Community Service Society of New York (CSS) is a recognized leader in the social service and advocacy fields. Our programs offer support and training to social services professionals, as well as to other agencies and community-based organizations. CSS also provides emergency services and long-term support to thousands of individuals and families in need every year.

Community Health Access Department (CHAD)

Explore out consumer resources and advice for counselors seeking information on health care services, Medicaid Managed Care, and more.

Public Benefits Resource Center (PBRC)

The Public Benefits Resource Center (PBRC) untangles the complexities of the government benefit system by explaining how benefits work together and where to go for help. PBRC maintains up-to-date information on over 70 government benefit programs for all populations - the elderly, disabled, families, singles and childless couples. PBRC's expertise includes information on benefits such as Public Assistance, Medicaid, SSI, Food Stamps, Social Security and Child Health Plus. Anyone who needs to negotiate the complicated system of government benefits can access PBRC services.

Retired & Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP)

With partnerships at more than 600 New York City community-based organizations, the award-winning Retired & Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) provides challenging volunteer assignments to 9,000 adults age 55 and over, to share their many lifetimes' worth of experience, as tutors, docents, instructors, administrative assistants and more.

Social Services Department

CSS provides individuals and families in need with emergency assistance in such areas as eviction prevention, advocacy for public benefit recipients, job and housing searches, and camp scholarships for developmentally disabled children.

Tenant Advocacy Project

The Tenant Advocacy Project (TAP) addresses New York's affordable housing crisis, by helping more people benefit from available federal housing programs, resolving tenant problems, and preventing eviction and homelessness.
