SERVICES & PROGRAMS
CSS programs help train social services professionals
and activists.

The Community Service Society of New York (CSS) is a recognized
leader in the social service and advocacy fields. Our programs
offer support and training to social services professionals, as
well as to other agencies and community-based organizations. CSS
also provides emergency services and long-term support to thousands
of individuals and families in need every year.

on health care services, Medicaid Managed Care, and more.
The Public Benefits Resource Center (PBRC) untangles the complexities
of the government benefit system by explaining how benefits work
together and where to go for help. PBRC maintains up-to-date information
on over 70 government benefit programs for all populations - the
elderly, disabled, families, singles and childless couples. PBRC's
expertise includes information on benefits such as Public Assistance,
Medicaid, SSI, Food Stamps, Social Security and Child Health Plus.
Anyone who needs to negotiate the complicated system of government
benefits can access PBRC services.
With partnerships at more than 600 New York City community-based organizations,
the award-winning Retired & Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) provides
challenging volunteer assignments to 9,000 adults age 55 and over, to
share their many lifetimes' worth of experience, as tutors, docents,
instructors, administrative assistants and more.
CSS provides individuals and families
in need with emergency assistance in such areas as eviction
prevention, advocacy for public benefit recipients, job and
housing searches, and camp scholarships for developmentally
disabled children.
The Tenant Advocacy Project (TAP) addresses New York's affordable
housing crisis, by helping more people benefit from available
federal housing programs, resolving tenant problems, and preventing
eviction and homelessness.
