The Unheard Third 2009: Job Loss, Economic Insecurity, and a Decline in Job Quality

Jeremy Reiss, Krista Pietrangelo

Summary: The eighth annual survey by the Community Service Society captures a snapshot of New Yorkers' experiences in the months immediately following the steepest job losses of the recession, and reveals high levels of job loss and wage loss among low-income households. The survey also shows a decline in job quality, as employers shed not just jobs but benefits such as health care.
