This brief training provides an overview of basic eligibility for eight major public benefit programs. Key concepts such as insurance based vs. needs based programs, income, resources, immigration status, work history and categorical criteria are discussed. Also presented are the basic rights individuals and families have when applying for benefits. All information presented was current as of May 2006.
