CSS President David R. Jones Named Among Top 50
Nonprofit Executives

August 3, 2006, New York, NY - For the second consecutive year, David R. Jones, President and CEO of the Community Service Society, was chosen as one of the NonProfit Times Power & Influence Top 50.  NonProfit Times is a leading publication for nonprofit management.  The 9th annual list of 50 honorees was selected by a combination of NPT staff and a few hand-picked members of the nonprofit community, who narrowed a field of more than 200 nominees.

The Times’ comment on Mr. Jones: “Jones has trained his sights on affordable housing and poverty and every elected official in New York City knows about it.  CSS is one of the nation’s largest human service organizations so Jones has input in almost every social service pot at the local and national levels.”

Mr. Jones has led CSS since 1986.  A highly respected leader on issues of urban poverty and economic advancement, Mr. Jones was recently appointed to the NYC Commission for Economic Opportunity, a task force to attack poverty and unemployment.  He was also a member of the Construction Industry Opportunities Commission that addressed inequities in employment opportunities for people of color.  He serves on the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene's Policy Advisory Committee.  Mr. Jones is also Chair of the National Committee for Responsive Philanthropy, a leading philanthropic watchdog organization.
