The Color Line in the 21st Century

The ongoing effect of race, punishment, and exclusion in the United States. A CSS event

On May 5, 2016, CSS gathered together a disinguished panel at the Columbia School of Social Work to discuss the intersections between the historic operation of institutional racism and the role of the criminal punishment system in subordinating poor black and brown people to second-class citizenship. It's goal was to inform and frame policies that address the root of problems facing our communities, promote community-based advocacy, and advance political engagement as the nation enters another election cycle.
