Statement: CSS Vice President of Health Initiatives Elisabeth Benjamin Honored With Crain’s Notable Women in Health Care Award
The Community Service Society congratulates Elisabeth Benjamin for being featured in this week's Crain's New York magazine's "Notable Women in Health Care" special issue honoring influential women in New York's health care field who have had a profound impact through work in their careers and in their communities.
Over her ten years at CSS where she supervises health policy, advocacy, research and consumer assistance programs, Elisabeth has overseen programs and initiatives that collectively help more than 100,000 New Yorkers each year enroll in or use their health insurance or access low-cost health care. She has authored reports on issues as varied as expanding health care coverage to undocumented immigrants and the merits of New York adopting a Basic Health Plan to pointing out structural flaws in the state's funding of safety-net hospitals. She is also a co-founder of Health Care For All New York (HCFANY), a statewide coalition of over 170 organizations devoted to securing affordable, quality health care for all New Yorkers.
On behalf of the Community Service Society and its Board of Trustees we extend our congratulations to Elisabeth for this well-deserved accomplishment.
