Department of Legal Counsel
The Department of Legal Counsel was created in 1987 to conduct
impact litigation in public interest law. Legal intervention strategies
complement CSS's advocacy, policy, service and political mobilization
efforts that serve poor communities and become additional tools in our
commitment to eliminate the causes and symptoms of poverty. Since 1989,
the Department has litigated significant cases in a number of areas and
has provided amicus briefs to state and federal courts.
