About Planned Giving
Thank you for considering a planned gift to the Community Service Society (CSS). Planned gifts are a meaningful way for donors to make significant and lasting contributions to charitable organizations and causes that are dear to their heart. A planned gift is usually the largest gift a donor gives and can make a significant and lasting impact on their community and a cause they care deeply about. Planned gifts take the form of cash, securities, homes, property…
In addition to supporting the Community Service Society, planned gifts offer a range of financial and tax benefits for the donor and his or her heirs. You should talk to your financial adviser to see if planned giving is right for you and to determine which planned giving options are best suited to your philanthropic interests and financial needs.
Below are some of the planned giving options available to you:
Bequests are the easiest and most popular way to make a deferred gift to the Community Service Society (CSS). Through a bequest you can leave CSS a specific amount or a percentage of your estate. You may use the following language to make a bequest to CSS:
“I bequeath to the Community Service Society of New York (tax ID number 13-5562202), a nonprofit corporation of the State of New York, having its principal offices at 633 3rd Avenue, 10th Floor, New York, NY 10010, the sum of $______ to be used by said corporation for its general purpose.”
Life insurance gifts can be made simply by making the Community Service Society the beneficiary or partial beneficiary of a life insurance policy.
Retirement plan gifts can also be made by making the Community Service Society the beneficiary or partial beneficiary of a retirement plan. Retirement plan gifts can also reduce estate taxes, while preserving the value of your plan.
Charitable remainder trusts offer an opportunity to place an asset or assets in a trust from which you or another beneficiary can receive lifelong income, with the Community Service Society receiving the remaining asset or assets afterward.
