NYC Coalition for a Smoke-Free City
CSS has partnered with the NYC Coalition for a Smoke-Free City to engage in public health advocacy to improve health outcomes in low-income communities.
CSS is proud to be part of the NYC Coalition for a Smoke-Free City, a health advocacy group that works to increase awareness of tobacco control issues among community members and policy makers. Partnering with the community, legislators, and health advocates, the Coalition supports neighborhood-based efforts for effective and long term change throughout NYC.
Approximately 14 percent of adults and 7 percent of teens in New York City still smoke, and more than 200,000 children continue to be subjected to secondhand smoke at home each year.[1] Further, tobacco use and its negative health effects disproportionately impact low-income communities.
CSS has been working with the Coalition on a number of tobacco cessation initiatives since 2010, and looks forward to continuing this partnership in the future.
