WHY THIS WORK IS IMPORTANT TO ME:
“Each program provides a unique service to the community and, at the same time, provides a rewarding volunteer experience for older adults. Many people are unaware of the benefits and services to which they are entitled. They get stuck in the maze of the public benefit system. These programs are designed to empower people; to make them aware of how to access needed benefits and tax credits, and engage in behaviors such as budgeting, saving, debt management, and asset building, which ensure financial success and future security. Combining the efforts of ACES, VITA, and FEP provide an all-inclusive program to support New York City’s low-income workers on issues of benefit access and financial development.”
