Our Location

The Community Service Society of New York is located in the historic United Charities Building at 105 East 22 Street (Park Avenue and East 22 Street) in Manhattan. The entrance to the building is on East 22 Street. Upon entering the building, you must check-in at the security desk. The United Charities Building is on the Number 6 subway line, where you exit at 22 or 23 Streets onto Park Avenue. Metered parking is available on East 22 Street and surrounding blocks but we caution you to be mindful of all posted parking regulations to avoid receiving a parking violation. There are a number of parking lots within walking distance of our building.

Social Forces Visualized: Photography and Scientific Charity, 1900–1920
An innovative view of the beginnings of social documentary photography in the United States. The exhibition includes over 125 photographs by Jacob Riis, Lewis Hine, Jessie Tarbox Beals, and others from the Community Service Society records at Columbia University's Rare Book & Manuscript Library.
